Digital Menu with a QR Code: How to Set One Up for Your Restaurant in Morocco
Published on · 5 min read
What is a QR-code digital menu?
It is an online version of your menu, reached from a web address. The QR code is just a shortcut to that address: the customer points their phone camera at the code and the menu appears. Because the QR code points to a page rather than a file, you can change prices and dishes without ever reprinting the code.
The 5 steps to set it up
- Gather your menu: categories, dish names, prices in dirhams, short descriptions and, if possible, good photos.
- Create your menu page: either by entering your dishes in a dedicated tool or by uploading your existing PDF menu.
- Choose your restaurant's web address, short and easy to remember (for example yourcafe.mida.ma).
- Generate the QR code that points to that address and download it in high resolution.
- Print it and place it where customers will see it: tables, counter, window.
What a good digital menu includes
- Clear prices in MAD, up to date and readable without zooming.
- Logical categories (starters, mains, desserts, drinks) so people find things fast.
- Photos of your signature dishes: they make people want to order.
- Several languages: French, Arabic and English suit local customers and tourists alike.
- Your opening hours, your address and a WhatsApp button for bookings or questions.
Common mistakes to avoid
- A QR code that is too small or badly printed: allow at least 3 cm per side and strong contrast.
- A QR code that points to a file: any change means reprinting everything.
- A PDF made for print that is unreadable on a small screen: prefer a mobile-friendly display.
- A menu that is never updated: a sold-out dish or an old price costs you customers' trust.
Where to place the QR code
On every table (a stand or a placemat), at the entrance, on the counter and in the window so passers-by can read the menu before coming in. Keep a few paper menus too, for customers who prefer that format.
